Summer House on Formentera

Good Saturday morning dear readers. How about visiting a lovely summer house today? It is located on a small sunny island called Formentera. It is the smallest and southernmost island of the Illes Pitiüses group and belongs to the Balearic Islands. It is approximately 6 km south of Ibiza in the Mediterranean Sea.

It used to be a worn down stable and Architects Nacho Alonso y Bill Wright were in charge of the restoration taking care to preserve most of the original building.

Items purchased by the owners on their trips to Bali, Marruecos and Sumatra adorn the terrace.

The sand coloured shades here are a replica of the ones used by the military during missions in the Sahara desert.

Natural elements such as a teak settee, a wall sculpture made with branches and stone floor make up this sitting area. The large window brings the outside in.

Concrete counter in this rustic kitchen. The small window, original to the house was kept. The original beams here and in other rooms have been restored.

Touches of colour on a white background in the light filled master bedroom. The same small window was preserved here as well.

Interesting idea to have provencal chandeliers as night lights by the bed.

Clothes are kept on shelves behind the curtains. More storage room at the top in wicker baskets. The door opens to the bathroom.

Rustic bathroom.

Hope you enjoyed this tour!
